No matter what you believe, the jerkin movement encompasses a dance that gives us a look back through all the eras of hip hop. True hip hop embodies the movement, and any ripples felt through it should be felt by any jerker no matter race or creed. So today lets talk about those who blessed the hip hop community but didn’t live to see the big 2010.
10. Disco D: a well known producer. Best remembered for his hit with 50 cent “Ski Mask Way,” he committed suicide in 2007
9. DJ AM: a well known producer
8. Proof: Eminem’s great friend and mentor who was shot in Detroit
7. DJ Screw: The man who took Chopped and Screwed to another level. He was taken by respiratory failure due to a codeine overdose.
6. Pimp C: One of the legendary group UGK, and a true king in southern rap.
5. J Dilla: co-founder of the Detroit outfit Slum Villiage. Lost in a battle against lupus.
4. Left eye: the rapper of the famed TLC.
3.Big Pun: One of the first Latino MC to achieve mainstream success.
2. Jam Master Jay: a founding member of legendary Run-DMC
